A roasting afternoon at Porthleven brought the Saints marching in, although it proved an easy victory for the hosts in this top of the table clash. Losing the toss, Port were invited to bowl, but this was no bad thing as they've bowled so well all year. A fiery opening by 'The Duke' Stokeld caused problems to the openers, who quickly displayed their helmets, worried about Stokeld's length. In the fourth over it came, Mallaber bowled for 11, bringing in Williams to support Kev Jones. Jones began to open up and took the score to 47 before 'Spazzy' Paddy Gardner took a superb diving catch at gully off Parish to remove him. Williams was bowled 1 run later, he'd batted 39 balls for a single but had given vital support, Carvelly sending him for an early non-existant shower!
Skipper Gareth 'Muscles' Jones came in and steadied the ship before he was yorked by Parish for 18. 'Wristy' Francis then took 2 catches off Parish at point to put the Saints in real trouble, and the introduction of Jamie 'The Squirrel' Slater worked a treat as he bowled Reynolds, exposing the tail, which the Duke duly got amongst, leaving himself on a hat-trick ball next week! The reply was brief - porky, pasta lover Dean Bray had an early let off, before eventually being caught for a run a ball 23. Boo Boo Bonnett was back to form, doing the perfect job of taking few chances but keeping the board ticking. Matt Stokeld decided to have a bash in the middle and hit 6 sixes and 3 fours in his 33 ball stay, only departing with the scores level! He took a particular liking to Cooke, whenever his length strayed, The Duke was there to feast on it. Bonnett kept his cool and the winning run was scored in just the 24th over by loudmouth Carvelly and 20 more points were secured and the lead at the top ever growing.
