On a cold blustery day at Troon, and with a few players short of the strongest XI, Port took to the field after losing the toss. The going was hard early on, especially with only 10 players on the pitch (Oz Young had other business to attend to for the first 13 overs!!!), as the ball was played in to the gaps produced by the missing fielder. The openers Matt Stokeld and Cif Carvelly did a sterling job keeping the run rate down, but 3 dropped catches let the batsmen off. Rob Hoare and JJ Walker came on and kept it tight too, but it was Rob who finally made the break-through with Oz taking a good catch at Long On. Troon's batsmen were stubborn at the crease, not offering many chances but they had very few scoring opportunities either. Port seemed relatively quiet in the field, must have been the lack of audio from missing Skipper Darren Parish. With pressure mounting on the home team to score more runs and get bonus points in the final overs, Oz kept his nerve and bagged his second "Michelle" of the season (taking three wickets in the final over). It was almost like picking Strawberries for the fiery haired Australian. So with a target of 152 Port's opening batsmen "Duke" Stokeld and "Mario" Bray went about trying to reach the target. They both batted well and had an opening stand of 96 before Bray surrendered his wicket to a ball that turned and bowled him. The Duke followed him shortly after holing out after top edging a long hop. Del Newman struggled to get the ball of the square, and he too was bowled by pretty much the same delivery as the super "Mario" Bray. Stand-in Skipper JJ and Cif Carvelly wrapped up the victory shortly afterwards and Port's winning streak continued.
