Another roasting day saw Port travel north to Rosudgeon in another top of the table clash. This proved to be no easy victory as they were made to work hard for their win. Mark 'Twiggy' Thomas opened with Dave Richards, the pair quickly going about there work. If only Twiggy was so quick at delivering letters, some might say! The pair scored at almost a run a ball, Stokeld struggling with the previous night's Babycham as his length suffered. The breakthrough came when Richards played down the wrong line, the ball flicking off the back of the bat to 'Uphill' Gardner's waiting hands in the gully. Carvelly then came into the attack, 'Ray' Cif bowling down the hill like a train, one beamer taking greasy gloveman Bray clean off his feet. Soon after completing his 50 Twiggy played on, then Keith Jacka edged behind to Bray. Carvelly bowled Calse and Badcock before David Ellis and C Jacka put on a slow and deliberate partnership, frustrating the change bowlers, Carvelly, Parish and Kebab Richards, and depriving the jabbering Jo'burg destroyer a 5 wicket haul. Stokeld's head had cleared by now, and with Adam Young introduced back into the attack, much to the delight of his watching mother, the innings was wrapped up with an over to spare.

The reply started poorly, Boo Boo Bonnett's stump taken from behind as he tried to flick to leg. Wee Wee Bray seemed to have recovered from Carvelly flooring him earlier and had made 18 when C Jacka bowled him. This brought in Derek 'Nostalgia' Newman (ex Redruth in the 'old days') to join 'Ugly' Stokeld. The pair began slowly, but gradually increased the pace, timing their partnership perfectly, as the standard of bowling was as good as any faced this year, and runs were not easy to come by. Both men drove through the gaps, working the field and alternating the strike. For a change, The Duke played the supporting role, facing 121 balls for his 67, with 6 fours. Newman by contrast, began to open his legs and show his class, his footwork was perfect as he stroked 11 fours and a six in his 87 ball innings. The win was wrapped up with almost 7 overs to spare, and an unbeaten 153 run partnership which never looked like being broken. Now halfway through the season, Porthleven have won all their games and now lead Division 4 by 30 points. This was the 1sts 15th win in a row, stretching back to a home defeat by Mullion last season. Now the hard work really begins and the pressure to maintain the same level of success!
