The promotion dream is still on as another victory was bagged with more than 20 overs to spare with just 10 Roasters due to the usual excuse of holidays, weddings and the football season! For once 'Slippers' Parish won the toss and inserted Botallack on a green track and his bowlers took full advantage. Cif Carvelly was first to strike, digging one in short, John Hooley unable to resist him, pulling him straight to JJ 'Lobster' Walker at square leg, too much pace from the South African. While the ball was in the air the batsmen crossed, Danny Tregear now on strike, but another bouncer from 'FW' Carvelly had him gloving straight to Wee Wee Bray. When Adam 'Nicole' Young had Penrose Jnr caught by Parish the score was 5-3 and the Roasters could sense a stuffing! Skipper Ashley Weston joined Breeze and took it upon himself to take the attack to Port, taking 23 off Carvelly's 6th over after his first 5 had gone for just 3! Mike 'Shandy' Surtees, playing his first game since the 2005 County Final, returned from foreign soil and struggled early with his length, somehow the batsmen didn’t know what was coming next either and with the score on 61 Weston put the ball straight down Carvelly's throat at long on. Just 8 runs later JJ bowled Whitaker thermadore bringing Lee Brewer to the crease. Brewer took up the gauntlet, gradually finding his form, but Surtees struck at the other end, Breeze flicking a wide one, Bray taking a brilliant catch. May was next to go, JJ having him caught by Bray once more and it was 99-7. Neil 'Jaffa' Bartlett, making his return to the club, bowled a lively 5 over spell to blow off the cobwebs, but Carvelly was brought back to lap up the tail. JJ wasn't finished yet, bowling May for 8, the fiery four fingered Irish spud collector grabbing his 36th wicket of the season. He was loving it so much he even tried to sneak in a 13th over but it was not to be, the scorers putting him straight, Oz having to finish his over, then continue his spell. Carvelly kept pounding away, just as his father used to in different circumstances years ago, and he got his reward, Alan Penrose edging behind to give 'Devilfish' Bray his 4th catch of the innings, before bowling Brewer to end the innings in spectacular style.

The reply got off to a brisk start, Boo and Bray taking the score to 30 in the 8th over before Bonnett was caught for an unlucky 13. JJ joined Bray and the pair took the score to 76 before Bray was bowled for 23. JJ and Cif continued the pace, not allowing Botallack a sniff as any bad ball was punished, one in particular smashed for what can only be described as a 9 by the shamrock sniffer! The Celtic Warrior couldn’t resist May's length though, his full toss sent to the boundary, only to find a fielder underneath! Jaffa came in and leg spin appeared to be a new invention, struggling at first before deciding to just swing against the spin and hope! It worked for a while, and after hitting Danny Tregear for a 6 then a 4, promptly perished next ball, stumps looking as pretty as he does!  Gary 'Just for Mac' McLintock joined Cif, the Seeth Efrikaaaan deciding he'd spent long enough in the middle, took the pressure off Port totally as he smashed three more 6's taking the score to 135. It was left to Mac to score the winning runs, a cover drive for 2 securing the 20 points.

A great result for the Roasters, and faultless effort in the field gave the batsmen an easy score to chase, a credit to themselves as the hosts hadn't even realised they were only playing against 10! A home fixture against league leaders Redruth next week, Port will go into the game full of confidence. Let's get it on!!
