Despite the rain throughout the week, the clouds at last broke and the sunshine was golden. Showers from the previous evening had left the wicket damp and slow and the toss was an important one. Sure enough it was lost again! Penzance inserted Port and in the absence of injured Boo Boo Bonnet Twiggy 'Scargill' Thomas opened with midfield general, Wee Wee Bray, the pair putting on just 15 before this postman failed to deliver, Twig giving the keeper a tricky chance, gone for 10.  Back from his holiday researching foam parties, JJ Walker dusted off his potato peeler and hammered the visitors all around the park, 64 of his 69 runs coming in boundaries. Port raced to 88-1 after 16 overs, but then the Italian maestro couldn't get pasta the 13 mark, he too caught behind. JJ was joined then by everyone's favourite South African, laughing

boy Carvelly, the pair taking the score to 117 before Walker was trapped in front by Jamie Stevens, an end to his 69 for now. James was brought into the attack, the 7th bowler used, but it worked, as he removed 'Mac' McLintock, Oz Young and Nigel 'Henmania' Dunstan as the middle order struggled. With the score on 171 in the 32 over Carvelly's 44 ball knock ended just after completing his half century, the 4th

catch for the pint sized keeper. Jamie 'Squirrel' Slater had a brief cameo at the death, but Port couldn't quite get past the 200 mark, again bowled out without using their overs. A disappointing climax to an innings that had promised so much.

In reply the Roasters were quickly out of the traps, Western well caught in the gully by 'Sarah' Harding, at least one postie was delivering this week! Gendall was next, Nigel Dunstan getting a big jaw behind a skied one, he accepted the ball with glee, 38-2. Feltcher was next, run out by an amazing direct hit from Carvelly, the man that never misses his target! Goldsworthy was next to go, Dunstan snaring his middle wicket, and at 68-4 on the 20th it looked like an early finish. Gendall however had other ideas, a fluent knock, protecting his partner. It took 10 more overs and 44 runs before Moyle went, bowled by JJ for a patient 8. James followed, a stunning one handed catch from Harding, the ball looked like it had passed, but he thrust himself at it, 120-6. Gendall was the only man who looked as if he could win it, the introduction of Harding to bowl worked perfectly, he drove over the top, Twiggy running round from long off to long on at full pace, catching the ball on the run, a truly great catch, the militant posties dragging themselves off the picket line to come together, 120-7. From 120-6 in the 33rd over the brakes came on, Adam Young bowled 5 successive maidens, JJ finished his great spell off with 2 himself, and Harding bowled his 7 over spell for just 3 runs, just 2 runs coming from the last 12 overs, but 18 points won and another win for the Roasters, back on track once more. St Just the visitors on Saturday, the annual fete at the ground next Sunday, hope to see you all there, viewers!
