An under
strength Roasters XI knew they were in for a tough game, but losing Adam Young
at 10 o'clock due to 'fruit and vegetable related
circumstances' was always going to be a tough blow, and so it
proved to be as
From here though, the fightback
began. Mann came in determined mood, enjoying 'Packer' Dunstan's
short balls as he rapidly displayed his
strokes and the runs began to flow. Chances were few and far
between and his partner appeared a little lost at the other end, but somehow
managed to survive for 15 overs before JJ Walker finally took his eyes off the
adjoining potato field and fired one of his own spuds through his defence, bowling him for 7. Madeley
then came in and shared a 34 run partnership, despite scoring just 7 before

score up to 69, Walker smashing seven 4's and a couple of maximums, enjoying
plenty of 'jovial banter' with the opposition, finally surrendering, caught
behind for a 39 ball 49. 'Cif' Carvelly was next, trapped in front without
scoring, and just 5 runs later Kev 'Jamie' Oliver
tickled one behind and the score was reduced to 75-4. In came Nigel Dunstan, a man used to batting
for the other side, but today he played a blinder for his team, starting slowly
but then increasing his rythmn as his strokes became
more and more impressive, successive maximums out of the ground showing his
intent, but after he and Bray had taken the score to 118-4 in the 30th he was
bowled for 31 and the collapse began. Butcher was bowled next ball, then Bray's patient 75 ball innings ended, caught for 34.
The bottom 5 scored just 3 between them, Dan 'Lizardo'
Stidwell undefeated with 2 of them as the fat lady opened her trap, even wiping

Roasters visit top of the table Redruth, but luckily have made an important
signing, an umpire, to try and prevent the farce of a few seasons ago! Watch this space listeners!
