The Roasters recorded their biggest win of the season
and a double over Troon in a polished team performance, everyone chipping
in to get the 20 points in the bag.
Winning the toss, Parish decided to give his 'Friday night sinners'
time to recover and clear their heads, batting first didn't seem to
be the best idea after losing 'Lofty' Tim Oliver, J'J' Walker for
6 and run machine Kev Oliver with just 27 on the board.
Lord Lard, Paul Combellack joined Andy 'Boo Boo' Bonnett and the pair
slowly but surely built a steady partnership, gradually increasing
their tempo. In the 25th over the partnership of 50 was ended when
Boo was bowled, but this brought in the bigger hitters, and from here
the rate began to climb.
Combellack reached 30 when his brakes failed when turning back after
attempting a run that never was, run out with the score on 105. Mr
Loverman, Martin Duck was joined by international playboy, Nigel Dunstan
and the pair put on 30 in just 15 balls before 'Romeo' Duck was bowled
for 23. Dunstan and 'Coco' Bury then added 25 from 22 balls before
Dunstan put his ball straight into the waiting hands of Dave Jenkin
at long on, 29 off 14 from the military hero.
Parish came out to join Bury, but as the batsmen had crossed it was
Bury on strike, Melissa Rowe to bowl, a huge swing of his wood failed
to connect with anything other than fresh air as his stumps were blown
apart, bowled by a girl for 11!
Kevin 'Sanchez' Orchard put on 13 with Parish and then 'Shandy' Surtees,
making another fleeting appearance, giving great support as the pair
ensured the 200 was reached, but it was 'word up' for Parish's cameo
when Surtees holed out on the ropes.
With a decent total to defend it was Dunstan and Duck to take the
new cherry. Despite 14 runs coming from the first 2 overs, the pair
then found their lengths, pounding away furiously until Dunstan flattened
Williams' wood for 10. Mackinnon was next on his radar, treated to
the same for a duck, then Melissa Rowe fell for his charms, her defence
penetrated at 21-3.
Duck was replaced by Bury, allowed to turn his mind back to his love
life, off to update his Facebook status....Martin Duck 'is single',
dreaming of happier times.... Bury was on fire, still smarting from
his 'unlucky' dismissal, he fired down his first 6 overs, took 2 wickets,
without conceding a run. Not to be outdone, head now cleared, Walker
conceded 3 from his opening 4 overs, including the wicket of Jenkin,
caught by Duck with the score on 36-4.
Bury took his first 2 wickets before Walker enjoyed a double wicket
maiden, bowling White and then having Moyle taken by Dunstan, following
it up the next over bowling Whiteford first ball. The next over though
it was Bury, cleaning up Mackinnon, ending Troon's innings for just
51 and ensuring 20 welcome points.
